Trying to get these to work inspired me to investigate various dotfile configurations that weren&#8217;t quite working right. <\/p>\n<p>Phil links to a presentation by Simon Meyers which has even more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukuug.org\/events\/linux2003\/papers\/bash_tips\/\">good bash tips<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since I use an xterm via cygwin most of the time, I needed to make sure the metaSendsEscape resource was set to true.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the Meta syntax in Simon&#8217;s presentation didn&#8217;t work for me.<\/p>\n<p><code>bind -p<\/code> showed that bash wanted to see <code>\\e<\/code> instead of <code>\\M<\/code><\/p>\n<p>And now I have new, nifty shortcuts defined.
